When does a student enter?
Answer: Students are
entering monthly. High Top is open entry and students are evaluated
and placed on their own level for individualized study programs.
2.
What is the average length of time a student stays?
Answer:
Our program is organized for approximately one year although many
students stay longer to finish school or finish attaining
goals.
3.
What is the Credentialling of High Top?
Answer:
We are licensed by the State of Utah as a residential treatment
and substance abuse center.
4.
Do insurance companies cover High Top?
Answer:
Yes, many do, depending upon the way the insurance policy is written
and if you have a diagnosis of mental health or substance abuse.
5.
What about runaways?
Answer:
We are very isolated which is a deterrent to running and with parent
support we work at bringing any runaway back.
6.
What should a student bring with him?
Answer:
Minimum clothing-primarily Levi-type jeans and conservative shirts
with no emphasis on gang symbols or dark colors. (see clothing list).
7.
Is there a religious affiliation?
Answer:
No, we are not associated with any one religion. Our students come
from many religions.
8.
What is the policy on smoking, drugs, alcohol?
Answer:
None of the above are allowed, even for staff. Utah law prohibits
usage of these for those under nineteen years of age.
9.
What is the success rate?
Answer:
We do change behavior and habits. Students are not like watches
which can be fixed with a screwdriver, but we teach a new way of
life with emphasis on ranching, farming, camping, and country living.
All students have life-enhancing experiences.
