High Top Ranch School is located in the beautiful south-central
Utah mountain country of Koosharem, Utah. This ranch is a cattle
and horse operation which has been in the Sorenson family for three
generations. It had it’s beginnings in 1958 when the Sorenson family
started a summer school and recreational program. It has since matured
and is now an independent school and treatment center.
The valley
is 7000 feet and has a pinion-juniper-sage type climate. The nearest
town of any note is 35 miles away giving Koosharem a wonderful sense
of serenity and isolation. Grass Valley is three miles wide and
14 miles long with five small streams running into it. Nearby mountains
rise to 12,000 feet and have abundant wildlife. The location lends
itself to unlimited outdoor opportunities.
High
Top is a residential school and treatment center for boys ages 10-14. Our enrollment is usually
15-20 students. We have
deliberately chosen to be small in enrollment yet rich in experiences
and services. We specialize in individualized approaches to the
development of your child. We provide a comprehensive program of
school, therapy, community service, ranch work and activities. We
help all our students to find themselves, develop civility, correct
academic deficiencies, get well, and experience success. We deeply
believe all young people can learn and do anything they desire.
